I cannot believe that its a year since my son, Jason married his partner Lottie on almost exactly their 10th anniversary !
I could not be prouder of the two of them or happier to have Lottie as part of our family (legally). So Happy Anniversary to Jason & Lottie, (AKA JoLo, AKA Mr & Mrs Crompton).

I was also surprised to find that I have failed in my duty as proud mama and celebrant to blog about there wedding. Not like me at all!
My Son & Daughter-in-Law
Lottie and Jason met a school shortly after her family moved to the area. They went through university together, survived through the long distance relationship caused by their respective years in industry. They survived the dystopia of covid, and the stress of exams. Both achieved first class honours masters degrees and event on to work in their chosen careers.
They overcame the challenges of buying their first home and organising their wedding and, now, a year on, they are more settled, happier and closer than ever before. They are a unit that is bigger than the sum of their individual parts.

Some years before they got married they modelled at a styled wedding shoot in our micro wedding venue. In fact images from their fake wedding feature on all my marketing literature!), the photos were stunning. Even the pretend wedding made hubby cry!
The real thing made us both blub!
The pair made quite an impact on some of the suppliers at that shoot. So much so, they were on pains of death (!) should they seek a photographer other than my friend and partner in Poignant Packages, Ann Seymour. And they also got all their flowers from the shoots chosen florist, Fran Phillips of La-di Dardy Flowers .
Their stunning and unique wedding venue
They chose a unique venue, close to home, for their ceremony, Pen Y Garreg Dam in the Elan Valley. A meaningful location as it was where they had a first date.
When I say the venue is unique, I am not exaggerating. I’ve just spend 25 minutes trying to find a link to their wedding packages and I failed! However, insider knowledge meant we knew that one of the dams was licenced for weddings and they managed to book it. One of only a few weddings that have taken place there to date.
It’s an intimate and alternative venue, for a maximum of 20 people (including the wedding party). It is accessed down a slope, now with steps, and through a dark tunnel inside the dam itself. Then up some concrete steps to arrive on a platform in the middle of the dam, with the lake on one side and (in winter), the overspill on the other. It is stunning. But even it’s spectacular beauty could not outshine the bride. Oh, and her husband (my son – Ok so I’m biased) and the gorgeous bridesmaids and cars.
